During the next 6 years, the Petro software was enhanced, expanded and sold to over 40 companies. Those first systems were all sold by word of mouth! Jim was providing installation, training and support for each of his clients. Expansion of the current operation became essential. In 1989 additional staff was brought on and a formal marketing plan was initiated. The proprietary operating system that the Petro software was originally designed for was also becoming obsolete and Petro Computer Systems, Inc. migrated its software to personal computers running multi-user UNIX.

    Over the next four years, Petro Computer Systems, Inc. installed over 60 systems throughout the western United States. The software was not only enhanced but also greatly expanded, mostly based on the needs and desires of our customers, but also as the industry dictated.

    In 1994 the Petro software underwent a complete rewrite and in 1995 Petro Plus © was released. The new release of the software utilized the latest version of the operating language, allowing  Petro Computer Systems, Inc. to provide a more user-friendly interface and mature product.
